Create a Living Legacy

The Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic & Cape May Counties

Create a Living Legacy…

The Foundation is a permanent source of funds that our Jewish community relies on year after year.  A Foundation gift helps build our endowment, which generates interest that we invest in our children, older adults, families, the needy and our community.  By making a gift to the Foundation, you ensure the continued vitality of our Jewish community for today and for all generations to come.

…That benefits you and your family…

The first responsibility of a planned gift is to satisfy the needs of the creator, you.  Planned giving, as an integral part of an effective estate plan, can help you increase our annual income; avoid Federal and State taxes including capital gains, gift, income and estate taxes; receive an immediate charitable deduction; take care of your children and other heirs, and make large gifts to your favorite charities.

…That benefits our community

The Foundation is a base of support for our Jewish community.  The Board of Jewish Education, Hillel at Richard Stockton College, the Milton and Betty Katz Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service, Beron Jewish Older Adult Service, the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center, the Simon and Sylvia Zisman Seashore Gardens Living Center, the Richard Simon Center for Alzheimer’s, Trocki Jewish Community Day School, and our synagogues are some of the organizations that receive this vital support.
.

Fulfill the Mitzvah of Tzedakah.

Through this community Foundation, you can continue the important Jewish tradition of Tzedakah, giving to those in need, to our older adults, to Jewish education, to our children and their children, for many years to come.  Perpetuate your gift for all time.  Remember the Foundation and the mitzvah of tzedakah when making your will.

TYPES OF FUNDS

Unrestricted:  Most gifts received are unrestricted, allowing the Foundation to respond to the urgent needs of our community as they arise.  Your gift will be used to support a variety of Jewish causes.

Philanthropic/Donor Advised:  You suggest where your gift is applied.  This fund is ideal if you make gifts to several charities annually such as a synagogue, agency, alma mater, the cancer society and more.  This provides you with the simplicity of one fund for all of your charitable giving needs.

Restricted:  This type of fund is established to support a specific cause or causes.  Distributions are made only to the causes you choose.  You control, at inception, exactly where your gift will go.

TYPES OF GIVING:

Book of Life:  Sign the Book of life, a promise to leave a bequest or establish an endowment to the Foundation and you ensure the future.   It is a promise made by our generation to the next that our Jewish Community will be here for them, for their children and for their children’s children.

Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment:  PACE is a gift of twenty times your annual campaign gift.  It is designed to insure your giving will continue even after you are gone.

Lion of Judah Endowment:  Lion of Judah Women commit to an annual campaign gift of $5,000.  A gift of $100,000 establishes an endowment insuring your commitment will continue in perpetuity.  Life insurance is one way for a Lion to endow.

Heritage Society:  A $100,000 or more endowment to the Foundation qualifies you.   Giving highly appreciated, low income yielding assets such as stock may benefit you at tax time and the causes you care about for an eternity.

TYPES OF GIFTS ACCEPTED

CASH:  Our government encourages charitable giving providing tax incentives to those who give.

STOCK:  Give a gift of stock directly to the Foundation and receive a tax deduction for the entire fair market value of the stock on the date you give the gift.

CHARITABLE REMAINDER TRUSTS COUPLED WITH WEALTH REPLACEMENT TRUSTS:  With this gift option you can accomplish the following: increase your annual income; avoid federal and state taxes such as capital gains, estate and gift taxes; receive an immediate charitable deduction; take care of your heirs and make large gifts to your favorite charities.

LIFE INSURANCE:  When you give a gift of life insurance naming the Foundation as irrevocable beneficiary and owner, the premiums you pay are fully deductive each year.  This enables you to leave a significant gift at a fraction of its actual value.

PENSIONS AND IRA’S:  Leave a pension or IRA to the Foundation and your estate and heirs benefit by avoiding significant taxes.

REAL PROPERTY:  Giving real estate, jewelry, art, and other items will benefit the Foundation and may save you tax dollars.

Consult your advisor to discuss the significant tax benefits to planned giving.
